Basics on Skincare

Confused by which products are best for your skin?
Beautiful skin is essential for making the most of your looks. Without cared-for skin, all your carefully applied makeup will either go patchy and blotchy, slide into lines and wrinkles, or disappear off your face in a shiny, oily mess. The sad truth is that most of us just weren't born with perfect skin. Instead, most of us have dry, oily or irritated skin. BUT, the good news is, is that by knowing what skin type you have and how to treat it you can get beautiful skin. Balanced levels of water and oil in your skin and you will create the state of harmony that makes beautiful skin. So let's talk about some skin basics and some skin product lingo so you can better understand which products are the best fit is for your skin.

 Soaps and Cleaning Bars

Normal Soap is too harsh for our delicate facial skin. It strips our skin of it's natural pH which should be 5.5; if your pH balance is off and it's too alkaline, your skin is going to look flaky and red. If it's too acidic, you'll increase your chances of inflammatory skin conditions like eczema and breakouts. So, if you are using soap and water to clean your face, please stop!

 Foaming Cleanser

For skin that needs a deeper cleansing to remove thick sunscreens in summer or to remove excess make-up and dirt, you can't beat a foaming cleanser that you lather onto your skin and then rinse off with water. You know you found the right cleanser if it leaves your face feeling moisturized and it doesn't feel like your face is cracking after you wash the cleanser off.
For teens or young adults (15-25) that have acne and are prone to break outs, I recommend this one
For a still younger adult who isn't concerned with signs of aging yet but wants to seriously take care of their skin, I recommend this one
For mid-aged adults who still aren't concerned with signs of aging but want brighter, more radiant skin, I recommend this one
For adults who are starting to notice the early signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, I recommend this one.

 Cleansing Wipes

Convenient, disposable cloths sweep away pore-clogging makeup, lip color, dirt, etc. with no oily residue. Perfect for women in a hurry who are looking for a quick facial cleaning. I recommend these ones, they are antioxidant-rich and contain vitamin E that conditions and protects skin's moisture barrier. Leaves skin feeling conditioned and comfortable, never dry or tight.

 Facial Scrub

Gentle scrubs with that have a scrubbing texture such as micro-beads or spheres of exfoliant that physically exfoliate the surface of the skin and will brighten up dull complexions. The goal of a scrub is to buff away flaky, dead skin to reveal a smoother, softer complexion. I recommend this one; it is a skin refining sugar scrub. It uses natural sugar cane crystals that gently buff but are highly effective as they have all sorts of different sizes of crystals incorporated in the scrub to smooth and refine.

  Toners

The purpose of a toner is to prepare your skin for whatever treatment product you might be using next in your skincare routine. One of the most important things about finding the right toner for your skin is to make sure you find a alcohol free one. Alcohol based toners throw your natural pH off and cause irritated skin.
For adults who are starting to notice the early signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles, I recommend this one

 Eye Creams

The skin around your eyes is thinner and more sensitive than that on the face and needs richer, less irritating creams. I recommend this one, it refreshes and hydrates. It works especially well in the morning when you still have that puffiness underneath your eyes from sleeping. I put it on underneath my make up and it brightens my eye area so that my eyes look wide awake.

 Light Moisturizers

Gel or lotion based moisturizers are great for wearing during the day or for skin types that benefit from less oil and more water. For teens or young adults (15-25) that have acne and are prone to break outs, I recommend this one. It is a water-light, oil-free moisturizer that adds hydration and balances surface oil to help control shine. For a still younger adult who isn't concerned with signs of aging yet but wants to seriously take care of their skin, I recommend this one. It contains natural marine plankton that absorbs your excess oil without drying out your skin. Leaves your skin feeling refreshed.

 Heavy Moisturizers

Thick, oil-based moisturizers are best for during the winter when there is less moisture in the air or on very dry or aging skin. I recommend this one for most skin types, it is a cream that deeply moisturizes stressed skin with soothing natural ingredients like blue lotus flower extract to instantly delvier a 197% increase in hydration. I would also recommend this one for adults who are looking to get rid of dark spots but are also suffering from dry skin. It is a patented blend of white chia seeds and pomegranate extract to provide antioxidant protection and to even tone and treat visible dark spots. 97% maintained hydration levels all day with this cream.

 Clay Face Masks

The main goal of clay face masks is deeply cleanse, to clear impurities in the pores and absorb excess oil. I would recommend this clay mask, it has fine French Clay that deep cleans and absorbs oil. It also reduces the visibility of your pores. It also enhances your makeup and helps your makeup stay on all day.

 Moisturizing Face Mask

The point of moisturizing face masks is to give your face a hydration boost. The water from the mask penetrates deep into the skin's epidermis to soften the skin and enhance its elasticity. Whenever your face is feeling dry, tight or uncomfortable it is time to treat it with a mega-moisture infused creamy mask. I would recommend this hydrating mask. It leaves your skin feeling immediately re-hydrated and smoother. It is a luxurious, whipped mask with green tea leaves to re-hydrate and infuse long-lasting moisture.

 Serum or Treatment

These deliver concentrated bursts of hydrating or anti-aging ingredients to the skin. Use them after your toner so your pores are prepared to take the treatment in, and use them before your moisturizer so they can be totally absorbed. This system is probably the best I have ever seen. You can totally personalize your treatment to whatever your skin needs. There is a base serum and then you pick up to 3 amplifiers from 5 different options. There is a hydration amplifieranti-wrinkle amplifierfirming amplifieranti-spot amplifier, and a brightening amplifier. These serums combines the most powerful botanicals and advanced skincare technologies to target your unique skin concerns.
